Wittl has been in Rappahannock for a year, substitute teaching at the elementary and high school, keeping his eyes and ears open for a local job where he could use his varied talents.
"I had taken some law enforcement courses in junior college and when I saw the ad for the sheriffs deputy, I thought it would be a good opportunity for me,” he explained.
And there’s another important reason why Wittl chose to apply for the position as deputy in the county he’s come to consider as his home. “It will give me a chance to do something for this wonderful community,” he said.
