Progressive Conservative
In an interview following his announcement. Catron described himself as a “progressive conservative" with support from the local Democratic organizations. “The party's in tune with me and I’m in tune with the party’s leaders." he maintained.
In regard to his opponent. Catron said he hasn’t had an opportunity yet to examine Guest’s voting record, adding that he planned on running “a positive campaign" rather than a campaign centered around attacks on the incumbent.
