Catron is an advocate of a concentrated effort to bring the “quality of industry that will fit into our environment” to this “beautiful northwest corner of Virginia.” He sees a joint effort launched by area counties and cities as the key to inducing compatible industries and business' ventures to locate here. "As we tighten up our budgetary belts, we’ll have to work together to pool our resources,” he said. “We’ll all benefit from the right > kind of industry, no matter where it’s located.”
Asked if he would support enabling legislation that would allow localities to require that developers pay ! for offrsite road improvements necessitated by their developments, Catron indicated he would introduce such legislation if requested to do so by the constituent board of supervisors. “Any enabling legislation requested by a governing body I'd..., certainly have to be open ^ minded enoueh to present.”
