The daily Birmingham, Alt. News recently published for its leaders a feature story about Mrs. Nellie Oglesby, 92. a former Buck ingham county resident now liv ing at Bessemer, Ala. The writer of the feature story twines his yarn about Mrs. Ogles by's fondness for recalling so happily the days in Old Virginia. Ife writes of her memories: "For instance there is the old- ■ eight room farm home in Buck ingham county, where she was; bom tnd lived happily with a large family. She proudly exhibits the picture of the home with its typical Southern surrounding veranda. She tells hcwr it housed the father, a Confederate veteran, the mother who made the rule* for a Godly Baptist home, six brothers and five sisters. Parents Natives Her father was Simeon Allen, of Cumberltnd county, and hoi mother. Martha Dunnavant Al len. of Buckingham county. They lived at Enonville from before the Civil War until their deaths in 1910 and 1913. They had cele brated their 68th wedding anni versary before the first one passed on. Mrs. Nellie Oglesby, subject of the Birmingham paper's feature story, was third from the young est child In her Buckingham days, she was widely known a ; a writing teacher and she still writes a beautiful hand. Many years a widow now, M;.. Ogelsby lives alone in Bessemer, but has a host of friends who en joy looking after her. She is a go-'d conversationist and she lis tens to the radio. "Nobody was ever so blessed as I am with friends." she says.
