SIDELINE VIEWS i__ By JOHN STF.OK Baseball League Folds: The Patrick-Henry League, an 18-year institution in this section, apparently lias folded. Farmviile officials have just learned that Brookneai does not want to compete in a four-team league and has withdrawn, leaving Farmviile, Altavista and Amherst to scramble for independent scheduling* if they are to have baseball. Farmviile sponsors are now to tx called together with players and Manager Weenie Miller to decide w hether or not to play another year of independent, baseball as in 1954 and 1955. The slow disintegration of the P-H League has been underway for about three seasons, with Pampiin and Charlotte C H.. old-timers gone, and this season Republican Grove. Henry's Mill and Rustburg closing shop. Brookneai was ready to participate if the league could muster mx teams, but is afraid that a four-team baseball league would not have the interest the expense for a full season requires. The effort to interest community teams at South Boston and Lynchburg was not successful, and it was four teams or nothing. Now Brookneai says it will be nothing as far as that club is con cerned Country baseball is having its knocks for sure these days!
