Side Line Shorts: WAYNE MORRIS, who not too long ago did his athletic per formances for Fannvilie High School, proved a one-man track team the other day as his Blues tone High squad trimmed Randolph-Henry in the first meet ever held at Bluestone. Morris piled up 1201 ^ points with firsts in the 100- and 220-yard dashes, the shotput and broad jump and a third in the high jump. HAMPDEN-SYDNEY’S track team, winners in three dual meets in four starts, made a good showing during the Mason-Dixon Con ference relays Saturday at American University. Roanoke's Maroons dominated the meet, taking first in six of the eight relay races. H-SC's Tigers, however, on the upgrade on the cinders, took seconds in the sprint medley and mile relay and thirds in the 880-yard and two-mile relaps. Old Reliable. Jim Frazer, captured both the discus and shotput in the field events. CUMBERLAND'S new community recreation field is expected to be used for the first time July 1. Use of the new diamond and dugouts climaxes a long effort, led by the American Legion Post, to provide the county with a good athletic field. BRAND NEW JACKETS are being sported by members of the Buckingham High School championship basketball team. The gold colored jackets, trimmed in maroon and with leather pockets, were presented during last week's banquet honoring the team. Athletic Director Bob Thalman. of Hampden-Sydney, was guest speaker.
