The belief that May is an unlucky month for marriage is a hangover Irom the old Roman belief that the good goddess Fauna was a prophetic divinity, who revealed her knowledge only to females. And the festi val of the goddess was celebrated in May. Also, the festival of the unhappy dead was also celebrated in that month. The month was not supposed to be lucky for marriages because of these two festivals.
