Amelia Splits With Midway, Kenbridge By James Warren Amelia High's Orioles defeated Midway 9 to 2 arid dropped a 3-1 pitchers’ battle to Kenbridge High's Comets Tuesday night in their last two starts. Senior Nelson Harris earned his first mound win of the season while limiting Midway to six safeties Friday on the Orioles’ field. Harris helped his own cause with three of Amelia's 15 hits and two RBI's. Catcher Ashton Ed wards and Outfielder Eldridge Anderson also collected three hits, with Shortstop Doug Blankenship collecting two, all off the slants of Midway starter Al Moss. The Amelia defense sparkled with action that included two double plays. Kenbndge's Willie Parrish and Amelia’s Clarence Hall hooked up in the pitching duel Tuesday night won by Kenbridge 3-1, Hall held the Comets to three scatter ed hits, but lead off walks in six of the innings proved his undo ing. The Comets' Dick Dawson pro duced the big blow of (he game with a first inning single that cored two mates. The Orioles out-hit the winners five to three, but couldn’t bunch their effort against Parrish who whiffed nine and gave up only one base on balls.
