It was established three years ago to perpetuate the memory of the late Thornton S. Baskervill. of Worsham, who even in his 70's v.u one of the community's most enthusiastic golfers. The club committee, headed by A1 Lafoon. of Farmville. has announced three days for qualifying for the flight tournament The first and second rounds will be played May 25 and the semi-finals and finals May 26. A worthy affair, the tournament prize list is headed by a $125 set of irons to be awarded the first flight winner, with two prizes for each flight, and a charcoal burner to be awarded the medalist. The winner's name is inscribed on the handsome Baskervill Bowl which lie keeps in his possession for a year. Dennis Critzer won the tournament in 1955. its premier year, with Cliff Eley winning last season. A buffet supper and dance for the host club and visiting players will round out the first day of competitive rounds Saturday. May 25.
