Orchestra Guild Offers
Memberships in County
An invitation is extended to all Rappahannock county residents to obtain memberships in the Virginia Orchestra State Guild. A campaign for , membership has been inaugurated by the Culpeper Business and Professional Woman's club.
Membership in the guild entitles the member to attendance at three events. Three such events are promised for Culpeper during the fall, winter, and spring, but there will be other events in neighboring cities during the winter. The Virginia Orchestra, under the conductorship of William Haaker, will come to Culpeper in the spring. It is not known exactly what will he the other two events scheduled. -r> Attendance at these events is % by membership only. It will not be possible to buy seats at the door on the night of the performance. However, a person holding a membership card has the privilege of giving it where he pleases if he does not wish to use the card himself.
Memberships may be purchased at Rappahannock News and there will be a representative at the Rappahannock County Fair Saturday to allow purchase of membership cards. Memberships will not be available after 8 o’clock Saturday, September 30.

ANNIVERSARY
The Flint Hill, Washington, and Willis Chapel Methodist Woman’s Societies celebrated the 10th anniversary of Woman’s Society of Christian Service on September 21 at Flint Hill Methodist church.
Mrs. Barbara Gentry opened the worship service and Mrs. Leslie Fog Keyser gave a talk on health, the topic for the year. /‘Miss Leslie” brought an old medical book and read some old-fashioned remedies. One especially interesting told how to bring women out of fits of hysteria, a malady peculiar to women, by putting the - feet and legs in warm water. On the serious side, she compared the facilities now with those years ago and pointed out how the Woman’s Society could help in the local community.
Mrs. Jane Williams gave the ten goals of the WSCS and Mrs. Paul Walker lit a candle on the anniversary cake for each of the goals attained ,by the local societies. Refreshments were served. - ,
