The United African Company, a trading concern, has published a booklet stating that West African natives have a special liking for hair-cream sandwiches. Yes, air, it is reported that a certain brand of hair cream in some parts of the Gold Coast is spread on bread and eaten with great relish. The Rappahannock cook book— to be called Rare Rappahannock Recipes, as was its successor—is in the process of being printed. Try sitting all day and setting type of just one kind of rich pudding, pie, and cake ^after another and you will realise that the thought of rich fo<jld almost turns the stomach. But then, get to the part that tells how to hake a ham—get to that part about noon time, just before lunch, and you sit and work and almost drool with hunger. The ladies of the churches who are putting out the cook book have much sympathy coming their iway when they get to the business of reading proof on the book. ’Tie hoped the job does not fall on some ladies who are overly fond of food, or they shall find themselves perpetually hungry.
