Mr. and Mrs. John McClenghen of Alpine, Texas, have purchased the farm known as the old “Witherow Place” from its present owner, Morgan Johnston. This farm has 353 acres, adjoining the farms of Wade H. Massie, Jr., Jake Keyser, J. D. Jenney, and Warren Miller. It is located about 3 miles northwest of Washington. Mr. and Mrs. McClenghen have been living on a ranch at Alpine, Texas. They traveled over 1200 miles trying to locate a farm they liked and a place they would like to live. They will be at home this winter at , “Spring House Farm,” the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Smith. The sale was made privately.
Taylor Brown Cannon
Taylor Brown Cannon, 49, son of Mrs. Benjamin Robert Cannon and the late Mr. Cannon of Castleton, died Wednesday, October 4, at University of Virginia hospital after an illness of two years. ; Prior to his illness, Mr. .Cannon: was associated with the Home Beneficial Insurance Company and made his home jn Arlington.
Funeral Services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon from the. Geest Funeral Chapel on the Sperryville road, Culpeper. The Rev. Paul J. Harrell of Arlington conducted the last rites and interment was in Fairview cemetery.
Surviving are his mother, Mrsv B. F. Cannon, three brothers and four sisters: William D. Cannon of Culpeper, Howard Cannon of New York, Frank Cannon of Arlington, Mrs. Lucy Pierce of Occoquan, Mrs. Anna Byrd Williams of Front Royal, Mrs. Clarita Haley of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Alice Spicer at home.
Pallbearers were Roscoe Bishop, James W. Fletcher, Raymond Guest, W. C. Werner, Guy Whitner, Robert Bowen, and Andrew Kibler. Those serving as honorary . pallbearers were C. W. O’Bannon, Johnny Woodward, Douglas McVegih, Wilmer Hume,*Riley Utz, C. B. Johnson, Winfrey White, Lee Roy Norris, Thomas Griffin, Harry Spicer, William Johnson, Robert L.
