In the September 18th issue of Life, I noted a picture of you speaking from a stand. This stand in question was draped with the Flag of the. United States, com* monly known as the Stars and Stripes, the Flag that has been un* der one rule longer than any Flag in the world, the Flag that is our symbol of Liberty and Freedom, the Flag that thousands of our flower of manhood has died for that this land of ours should always remain free.
I could go on for two or three hours on a common sense talk on our flag. I feel this is heedless, too many of our Americans and some in Washington it seems have come to the point as to only regard our precious Flag, that has been drenched in blood, merely as a trademark of the United States, the same as one might recognize their favorite brand of tomatoes. So I, therefore ask you Mrs. May* or by what authority you use our Stars and Stripes as a mere cover* ing for a speakers stand? This I am sure you must be aware that it is highly improper, unlawful and certainly disrespectful to our grand old Flag. - / . *
