JULIA HAYGOOD CIRCLE
The Julia Haygood Circle of Flint Hill Baptist church met Friday evening, October 6, at the home of Mrs. Lewis Moore, with 14 members present.
Mrs. M. E. Sliger had charge of the program entitled “Behind the Iron Curtain.” The program was recorded on a tape recorder prior to the meeting. It was presented in the form of a radio program with Mrs. Brue Wood at the organ and the Rev. Mr. Sliger acting as the announcer. Color slides were shown illustrating incidents in the life of Christ, revealing God’s love for men.
At the close of the program Mrs. Sliger told the story of an escaped Latvian refugee couple, “Their Hands Were Oars,” by Berta King, and showed color slide pictures of the refugees.
Those taking part on the program were Rev. M. E. Sliger, Mrs. Charles Wood, Mrs. David Corbin, Mrs. Billy Gilbert, Mrs. John S. Browning, Mrs. Emory Russell, and Mrs. Brue Wood.
