He listed some of the famous members of the Smith tribe, and then cited how one family had licked the problem of naming the new Smith baby, in some manner to distinguish him from all the other Smiths in the country, they just named him Smith Smith.
In Rappahannock they say there is no problem along that line. One ■"lady says there^is no trouble'in' remembering the names of anyone in the county. Just call them Miller; if they are not Millers, their mother was a miller; and if their mother was not a Miller, then their grandmother was. “But how do you know what kin they are?’’ “Gracious mercy, child! you don’t know—they don’t even know themselves, and it doesn’t matter, anyway. They’re all kin.”
