Hostess to Group From
Washington W. S. C. S.
The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Sperryville Methodist church was hostess to a group from the Washington M.E. church at. a meeting held Wednesday evening October 4, at 7:45 o’clock. The occasion being the tenth anniversary of the Organization of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service, successor to the. * Woman’s Missionary Society. Mrs. Nina Brown presided and the meeting opened with singing "My Country ’Tis of Thee,” after which a scripture lesson was read by Rev. Norman U. Flythe, followed by prayer. Special musical numbers were rendered by Miss Betty Welch and Miss Barbara Brown with Mrs. Harry Trescott at the piano. •
The history of the local Society since its organization was given by Mrs. J. B. Johnson. Rev. Flythe gave an interesting talk on Health the lesson theme for the month. At the conclusion of the program a catfdte lighting service was*conducted by' Mrs. Nina Brown. During the social hour Mrs. Fred Schaefer cut the birthday cake and it was served with ice cream to the guests which numbered about twenty-five. The last on the program was the singing of “God be With you ’Til We Meet Again,’’ and Rev. Flythe pronounced the benediction.

On Friday evening at eight o’clock the members of the W. S. C. S. from the Flint Hill and Washington Methodist churches met .with the Sperryville Society for a joint Mission Study Class, the subjtect ibeing “The Near EastPanorama.” The class was taught by Mrs. Norman J. Flythe, who also conducted a quiz program. The second session of the study class was held Tuesday evening.
