Jackie Price got thrown a little teasing recently in the columns of the local paper about having to shovel snow from the driveway at his home. He declares that he is going to sue the Rappahannock News for slander and maligning his good name. He's even gone so far as to say that he will just take over the paper in place of payment. He has his paper policy all set: he’s going to insure subscriptions by writing editorials on everyone Who doesn’t subscribe, and he’s going to derive most of his revenue from what he doesn’t print. He also had some kind of plan for providing cushions on the office desk so he can rest his feet without scarring his shoes.

I don’t want to hear a single word about “we don’t have real, old-fashioned winters anymore.” This <past week has been enough winter to last most of us for several years. Before the first day of winter arrived, December 21, there had been more winter than most folks needed. *+
December 21 is a lovely day: it means that from now on, each day will see a. little more sunshine.
