Supervisors Propose

Rabies Shots for Dogs v / . '{ . s

Upon advice from Dr W. R. Johnson, health department official, the Board of Supervisors met Saturday morning and proposed a county ordinance requiring inoculation of all dogs in the county to prevent rabies.

This problem arose (when a dog in the Castleton neighborhood was bitten by a rabid fox.

It had been hoped that the seige of rabies among the foxes in Fauquier and Loudoun would not spread into Rappahannock, but upon the first sign of the disease being present in the county, the Supervisors have proposed immediate action. '

The proposed ordinance calls for inoculation of all dogs before March 1, 19b 2, recommends that vaccine be given cats; and gives permission to aH citisens to kill any fox suspected of having rabies.
