Most-Loved Carol Written

After Mice Nibbled

“Silent Night, Holy Night

“AO Is Calm, AO !• Bright"

This most popular of all Christmas carols iwas written because mice ate the bellows of the church organ in Oberndorf, Austria 133 years ago.

It was in December, 1818, that the rodents did their work in the small Roman Catholic Church of 'Saint Nikolaus in the village in the Salzach Valley.
