Tl>e County 4-H Council held its spring meeting Saturday at the high school with Newbill Miller, county president presiding. Betty Johnson, secretary of the council, read the county goals. The group voted to pay part of each delegates registration fee to State Short Course. Delegates chosen were Richard Grfffith, Newbill Miller, Betty Rutherford, and Lelia Gentry.
Special events discussed were: State ' Short Course. . . Elizabeth Fuss, Home Agent; District 4-H Camp. . .W. H. Lyne, county agent.
The secretary of each club gave report of progress of their club for this year. The dubs giving reports were Belle Meade, Robert Martin; Flint Hill, Paula Miller; Reager, Mary Lou Campbell: Sperryville I, Neville Wood; Sperryville II, Betty Johnson; Washington, Sr., Faye Black and Woodville, Annie Dodson. >
The following medals were presented: Maybell Williams. . . Dress Revue; Evelyn Miller, food; prepairation; Lelia Gentry, dairy foods; Mary Lou Campbell, Canning; These medals were won by the girls at the county contest . . being judged on 4-H records and their demonstrations. The last half of the Council meeting was devoted to recreation, the group could use in the summer groups.
W. H. Lyne directed the recreation playing the following games: arches, detective and Texas Schattische.
Mrs. Colleen Collett, home economist of the Northern Virginia Power Company, conducted a group meeting at Sperryville School for the following groups: Sperryville, Woodville, F. T. Valley, F. T. Valley #2 and Slate Mills. Mrs. Collett illustrated good lighting and electrifying a lamp.
Mrs. Peggy Miller conducted a •sewing class Thursday. The members were cutting out dresees and making buttonholes.
Flint- Hill 4-H Club met Monday for its "regular meeting with Dudley presiding. As part of the business meeting the club voted to pay $4.00 for club delegates, Sarah Flythe, Paula Miller, Jerry Atkins, Barbara Atkins and Dorothy Atkins joined the group for the summer projects. Mrs. P. D, Dennis and Mrs. Frank Cary, leader joined in judging the 4-H project exhibit. Lucy Lillard winning a blue ribbon on her cookies. Washington Sr. 4;H met Monday. Faye Black was elected to become club secretary. They voted to pay $4 on delegates to camp and those being selected were Faye Kelly Updike, Georgia Standish and Richard Griffith. The club decided to sponsor a picnic on June 20, each member bringing one guest and their lunch.
Sperryville I 4-H met Tuesday. During business the members voted to pay $4 to delegates for camp. Those being chosen were Peachy Lyne, Judy Hawkins, Elmer Foster and Randall. Florence Atkins and Ruth Jenkins joined for summer work. Mrs. Susie Brown judged the members projects and demonstrations exhibited the following awards being given : Evelyn Miller, How to Pack Complete Lunch; Carolyn Turner, red; and Judy Hawkins, blue.
