We *could carry this story of the Indian’s dog a bit further. Let us do so. Keeping up the practice of feeding the dog part of itself, would eventually result in the canine completely consuming itself. Just how long a dog could survive on this sort of a program is a question. But, one thing sure, if everytime a chunk was cut off, part of it had to go to several other bureaucratic dogs for supervising the operation, Mr. Dog, party of the first part, would have scant chance to survive for long.

Today we, the American people, with federal government on a spending binge and shot through with corruption, are in the exact untenable position of the Indian’s dog. We not only are hflVta|g"'td live on " our own fat, but we are being forced through exorbitant, taxes to give away a generous amount of our fat to a herd of bureaucrats for extracting it.

And like the Indian’s dog, incredulous as it may seem, many Americans, the while they consume themselves, are licking the hand that does the slicing and passes the slice on to them, in gratitude and supplication for more of the same.

England’s sad experience with Socialists, the something-for-nothing idea, should be a lesson to us.
