Forestry Training Camp
At Holiday Lake
H week’s forestry training will be given without charge to 100 eligible Virginia boys at Holiday Lake on the Surrender Grounds State Forest in Apprmattox County from July 28 to August <2, 1952.
This will be the seventh forestry training camp to be held at Holiday Lake with boys attending from all sections of the state. The camp, which is administrated by the Virginia Forest Service, is intended to interest and instruct Virginia boys in sound forestry principles and is sponsored by the Southern Pulpwood Association. It is financed by the following Virginia wood using industries: Camp Manufacturing Company, Chespeake Corporation of Virginia, Continental Can Company, Glatfelter Pulpwood Company, Meade Corporation, National Container Corporation of Virginia and the West Virginia Pulp .andPaper. Classes will be taught by trained foresters and will include such topics as timber harvesting, fire’ control, cruising and estimating, game management, area surveying, tree planting, and tree identification. There will be plenty of time for recreation - and atheletics under the supervision
