Franklin Roosevelt (better known as Bill) Dodson is at present receiving free room and board at the expense of the county; he is a guest of Guv Burke in the red brick buildingeast of the Courthouse.
According to a report of Comonwealth Attorney R. V. Snead, Bill, Haywood, and Robert Dodson are charged with felonious assault and petit larceny, with a hearing set for Friday, September 5, 2 p.m., in the Trial Justice Court.
The story continues by saying that the three Dodsons are charged with assaulting John Lee Mtller by requiring him, at the point of a knife, to drive them to the home of James Fletcher (colored) on the night of August 30, where their purpose appeared to be the purchase of wine. Unable To obtain any wine, so the tale goes, they turned their attentions toward the chicken house and carefully removed four of the feathered fowls.
