He painted a piece of the yellow fruit on the body of the car and rode merrily along—his peace of mind in- a better condition to appease the flatness of his pocketbook. Sorrow raised its head in his path whep someone discovered there is a law prohibiting the “defamation of character" of any make of automobile, and the soldier was hauled into court. The boy defended himself with the argument that it was his car, he thought it was a “lemon," and he had the right to express his opinion.
The courts decided otherwise, and the boy is in a peck of trouble. . . =
It seems a shame, somehow. We all know that a “lemon" occurs in everybody’s business occasionally, and why all the fuss? A good cook can use the same ingredients and the same skill, but sometimes her cake will have a sad streak. Surely the automobile industry admits that occasionally one car, supposedly identical with all the others, (will not reach perfection.
