Pvt. Jackie G. Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Gilbert of Flint Hill, who has beet) stationed with the 101st Signal Battalion in Korea and Japan for the past twenty-one months, is enroute to his home in Flint Hill.
Pvt. Gilbert arrived in San Francisco, California, December 23, but he has to report to Kentucky for his discharge before 'coming home, and is expected to arrive this week. Jackie was a pitcher for the Front Royal and Hume baseball teams before entering service.
The 101st Signal Battalion, of which Pvt. Gilbert is a member, is a unit of the former New York National Guard and recently received the Meritiorius Unit Commendation for “exceptionally meritiorius conduct in the performance of outstanding service” from December 1 to June 30, 1951
