Yates-Bower
Miss Stir Elizabeth Bower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hill Bower of Hollins, and William Hudson Yates, son of Lester Yates and the late Mrs. Yates of Sperryville, were ; married at 10:30 a.m. December 22. in the Enon Baptist church, Hollins, with the Rev. Herman C. Inge officiating the ceremony.
The church was decorated with Christmas greens, palms, poinsettias and candelabra with white candles.
The program of wedding music was given by Mrs. Frank Sawyer of Roanoke, cousin of the bride.
Mrs. Yates is a graduate of Bridgewater College, class of *52. •
Mr. Yates graduated at Sperryville High School, class of 44. He entered the Army February 1945 and was with the first troops to enter Korea. He was stationed at Musan with the Military Government. Later he received his degree at the University of Virginia, class of ‘51.
Mr. and Mrs. Yates are both employed at the Hercules Powder Plant, Radford. Mrs. Yates is a chemist and Mr. Yates is an area foreman.

Mrs. Mary Botts Quaintance entertained at a bridge party at her home in the F. T. Valley on Thursday night, Her guests were Mrs. Z. H. Sealock, Mrs. Carroll Menefee, Mrs. C. H. H. Branch, Mrs. Caroline M. Hall, Mrs. L. J. Kilby, Mrs. Robert E. Wood, Mrs. Fred Schaefer, Mrs, Thomas J. Pillar, Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Mrs. Charles H. Estes, Mrs. R- E. Thompson, Mrs. P. Lee Thornton, Mrs. John P. Snead, Mrs. Brown Miller, Miss Louise O’Ban non and Mrs. D. L. Miller. High 9core for club members was awarded to Mrs. Fred Schaefer. High score for guests to Mrs. R. E. Wood and the “booby" prize was won by Mrs, Kilby- After thg game the hostess served a delicious salad course.

Wade H. Massie entertained the Washington bridge club- for dessert bridge on Thursday evening. Her guests were Mrs. Elizabeth DeBergh, Mr*. Robert L. Massie, Mrs, J. E. Keyser,, Mrs. Lewis J. Turner, Mrs. George H. Davis, Mrs. B. M. Miller and Mrs. D. D. Miller. After the gune prizes were awarded to Mrs.
g. L. Massie for high score; Mrs. 0*v»s received consolation and the traveling went to Mrs. DeBergh.
