Pvt Andrew J. Lewis, son of/Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lewis of Sperry - ville, has arrived at the Ordnance Replacement Training Center where he will undergo eight weeks of Army basic training. Following basic training, he wili receive specialized training in an ordnance corps technical school, either at Aberdeen Proving Ground or one of the other army ordnance installations.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Carter motored to Gainsville, Christinas Day to carry a Christmas box to Mr. Carter’s cousin. Frank Carter, who lives in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Redmon. While there Mr. and Mrs. Carter were dinner guests of the Rcdmons.
Mrs. Josephine Jones was a dinner guest Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Carter.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dealing were in Washington, D. C. on Saturday, December 27 to attend the funeral of a friend. On their, way they stopped at Anrissville, as Mrs. Dearing was entering one of the stores, she slipped and fell and, as * she thought, hurt her arm slightly. After several days at home, she realized that it was a more serious injury. She went to Front Royal for an X-ray. Mrs. Dearing is now in the Warren Memorial hospital waiting to have her arm put in a cast, as several small bones were broken.
Miss Mary Jackson of Culpeper was an overnight guest of Miss Mary Ann Hunter. On Tuesday they attended the basketball game at Carver High School.
Mrs. Ruth Wall of Washington, D. C., who spent the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Carter, * has returned tp^D. C.
Lewis Carter spent a few days in Washington, D. C. visiting his sisters, Mrs. Laura Davis and Mrs. Florence Harris.
Miss Gloria Ann Brent spent a few days in Washington, D. C. visiting her relatives.
Mrs. Hattie Richardson has been visiting relatives in Washington, D. C. and Philadelphia.
Mrs. Betty Copeland and son, * Rickey and Miss Mary Rachel Freeman spent the holiday season with their mother, Mrs. Mattie Freeman, also Riley Painter who is Mrs. Freeman’s son-in-law.
Charles Stewart of Cleveland, Ohio joined his wife, Ruth and daughter, Cheryl, who spent the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Margaret Hunter.
Mrs. Nannie Starks has improved and is able to be out again.
