working at a stump-removing job at “Thornton Hill” near Sperryville, Haney did not report from work on Friday afternoon. This was hot considered unusual, since it was closer ^to his home where he was working - than if he had checked back in at the farm. When he did not return to his home by Saturday morning, his wife became concerned and sent someone in search. Haney was found in the field, near the tractor, dead. Marks of the tractor wheel were on his shirt, and the left side of his chest was crushed in. According to reports of Sheriff Critzer and others who investigated the scene, Haney never knew what hit him; he evidently was killed instantly.
Haney was not a regular worker at “Thornton Hill” but was employed for the special clean-up job.
Funeral services were held Monday from Shiloh Baptist church, Woodville, with intermerft in the church cemetery. A son of Forest Haney and Della Haney, Forest Haney leaves a wife, Frances Andes Haney, and two adopted small children. He was a veteran of World War II.
