If a wild animal bites a domesticated one, it is advised to confine the animal bitten until and examination can be done on animal dping biting. If this examination is not possible it is suggested that animal be confined for 60 days and a veterinarian be cantracted regarding Pasteur treatment. Sometimes the Negri bodies in the brain which are characteristic of rabies, do not show up in early stages of the disease.

When a suspected animal dies or is killed the head should be removed very carefully so as not to scratch infected materal into the skin. The wearing of gloves for this has been advised! You can contact your local game warden and local health department Sanitation Officer for information regarding sending the head to the lab.
