D. at Mrs. Will Walters at 1:30 p.m. Sperryville H. D. wtth Mrs. Ben Weddle at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, F. T. Valley H. D. at 1:30 at the home of Mr. W.B. Kilby and Mrs E. J. Kilby. May 15, Room Improvement at §:30 a m. at Lucy Lillard’s. A very interesting and enjoyable trip was taken by H. D. members and their friends to Charlottesville, Tuesday. The group visited Monticello and Ash Lawn. Then after lunch at University Cafeteria visited the University formal gardens. While visiting a group of four home gardens in Charlottesville the group was impressed with colorful pink and white dogwoods and the simplicity but effectiveness of these home grounds. Ladies going on the trip were Mrs. Jessie Rowzie, Mrs. Frank Cary, Mrs. David Menchhofer, Miss Elsie Dodson, Mrs. Wallace Sisk, Mrs. Ben Weddle, Mrs. Thelma Lillard, Mrs. Ada Updike, Mrs. Lewis Turner and Mrs. Wade Massie. An all day spring tieing and upholstering clinic was held at the home of Mrs. Clabert Smoot on Friday. During the day a sofa was completely renovated.
Amissville 4-H club met Thursday. During the meeting nine expressed desire to attend camp. Peggy Jenkins gave a report of their club picnic and Elizabeth Latham reported on the Bake Sale held at her home. Mrs. Bill Laing will be helping with 4-H work this summer. Forest Grove 4-H met Friday morning. Two 4-H'ers wish to go to camp. Plans were made to attend the Forest Grove Church on May 10 as a group. During the project work, the girls worked on ther-May Day costumes.
For the past two or three years the Home Demonstration dubs have been working on three long time goals.
Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis Martin, Jr., of Richmond, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Marlene Celeste, to George Tyler Miller, Jr., son of Mr. Miller, of Harrisonburg, president of Madison College, and the late Mrs. Kathryn Weaver Miller.
Miss Martin attends Madison College, and Mr. Martin attends Virginia Military Institute.
The wedding will take place in August.
