About Rabies
• The retries incidence is highest in winter and spring, butit occurs in every season. All warm blooded animals are susceptible.
The disease is transmitted by the bite of a rabid animal, and there is no evidence that eating the food of an infected animal will cause rabies. Bites of wild animals such as foxes, wolves and wildcats are usually more dangerous since these animals bite deeper.

The average incubation time of rabies varies from 2 to 6 weeks, but in some cases may be prolonged as long as 4 months or a year. There are two types of rabies, the “furious" and “dumb" but these types may merge or appear at different stages in the same animal.
In the vicious or furious type, one of the first symptons in an altered disposition. The gentle dog becomes morose, hides and refuses food. Then the dog becomes restless, irritable and agitated, particularly when restrained. Strangers may be attacked' without warning. The animal will run an$ shy at the slightest noises. It harks and growls, snarling viciously at anything in its path. If free, it leaves the house, and travels many miles, attacking men and animal’s alike, including the cats, dogs, poultry, horses and cows with which it had lived peacefully. It attacks and passes on, to die in a spastic fit, or fall with its leggs paralyzed.
