The home water supply was started last February by the County Committee organized to do something toward increasing the number of our homes with this important feature. The purpose of the survey is to learn: (1) Which homes do not have home water supply systems; (2) which ones have a water system whch is unsatisfactory; (3) • and from these groups who would like to have a water supply survey made to determine: (a) adequacy of supply, (b) the type of pump that should be used, (c) size of storage tank, (d) amount and size of pipe that would be necessary and (e) and an estimate on the cost of making such an installation. There will be NO charge for such a survey. To date the survey summary shows here are 210 homes with home water supply systems, thus much progress has been made by home owners since our last Agricultural Census was made revealing but 90 homes with pressure water systems. Of this number there are teii unsatisfactory systems. There are 243 homes without water systems of which about 60% are privately owned homes. Reasons given for nobhaving water system are: cost, lack of information, inadequate supply and combinations of these three primary reasons:
The remaining home owners (268) have been mailed survey cards which are now in process of being completed and returned to the county agent’s office.
It is hoped aM cards will be returned by mid-May at which time the total findings lyill be presented to a second county wide meeting. This meeting will include representatives of all county communities, professional agricultural workers, loan agencies including our banks, well diggers, pump and accessory dealers.
