At Sperryville Friday

Pupils of Forest Grove, Amissville, Washington, Sperryville, Belle Mea-d e, and Woodville schools wm hold their Music Festival at Sperryville School Friday, May 1C. at 1 p.m. The program will consist of group singing and special dances done by the pupils of the various schools.

The public is cordially invited.

Five fire calls were answered by the new Amissville Volunteer Fire Department in April, Fire Chief Charles Compton stated during the department’s regular monthly meeting the first Wednesday of the month.

Statistically, according to Mr. Compton, a total of 53 firefighters were on hand to put out the fires, who traveled a total of 224 miles perform jpg their duty.

Secretary Graham #Ha ck 1 ey annonunced three new members to the department: Louis Smith, Tasker Woodward and Frank Zinn.

The well for a water supply has been thrilled successfully, and will produce 25 gallons a minute, according to Vice President C.M-M* Green.

Childrens’ Home Society

Mrs. D. D. Miller of Washington will be the Chairman for the drive for funds for the Childrens’ Home Society of Virginia, which will be held in Rappahannock County this year, during May. Mrs. Miller is a -Sponsor of the Childrens' Home Society and was, also, Chairman last year when her campaign unit was listed as one of the Blue Ribbon winners for the Society.

“He needs your help to get started” is the slogan which is being used in connection with many of the Society's campaigns this year.
