spiration to tne members. His nephew, Judge R. V. Snead is now our Superintendent and under his guidance we are growing.
In 1951 as a trial we adopted the United Budget which has proved a success, so it continues through the years.
The church property has been improved from time to time. In May 1911 the side aisles were closed and a center one fixed. The choir stand was made level with the pulpit, and the building painted inside and outside. At the same time the WUIing Workers built a gas house and put gas in the church, electric lights were later installed. In 1927 two S- S. rooms were added to each side of the church. The members of the church dedicated one room to Miss Mary Long who gave the lot for the building, another room was given in honor of Mrs. • Annie Keyser, a charter member by the members of her family and a third room was given by the Jones family in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth E. Jones, the first president of the missionary society. In 1939 the church was improved by putting in new electric light fixtures, painting the church on the inside, putting drapes at the windows and laying a new carpet. In 1949 a central heating plant was installed which has been very satisfactory. In the fall of 1951 the inside and outside of the church was painted. In 1952 we began to build an addition at the back of the church, which consisted of four S.S. rooms, two rest rooms, and a small kitchen. The corner stone given by Mr. Carlton Clore of Culpeper, will be laid after services Sunday morning May 17th, 1953. This building Has not been completed, but when it is we feel sure it will add much to the effectiveness of our Sunday School*
We, the present members, of Washington Baptist Church are proud of our church and the organizations connected with it, and we hope each member will ever follow in the footsteps of our Master; like the early members who in 1882 organised the church and dedicated it to the glory of God and the work of His Kingdom.
