Annual Encampment'

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Virginia, will hold its .list Annual Department Encampment in Richmond, Virginia, lime 21-24, 1 C53, with headquarters at The Jefferson Hotel, according to statement ly Irvin Kilby, Commander of Rappahannock County Post Xo. 1150. Heginning with meeting of the Department Council of Administration at 2 p.m. on the 21st, the Memorial Service will get under way at 4 p.m. in the Ballroom. Plans calling for — visitation to McGuire VA Hospital at 7 o’clock the same day. One of the highlights of the Encampment is the Joint Opening Session on Monday, June 22 at 9:30 a.m. at which time Hon. John S. Battle, Governor of Virginia, will extend his greetings. The C ity f Richmond w ll le represented by Mr. Thomas P. Bryan, Vice Mayor, and all candid t s for Governor are King extended invitations. to appear on this program, so the delegates to the Encampment can "look them over.” They will n deliver political speeches, and the delegates will have an opportunity t meet the gubernatorial candidates

Representing the national organization will be Junior Vice Commander - in-Chief Merton 15. l ice of Mitchell. South Dakota, and Robert B. Handy, Jr., Quartermaster General, is expected to he present for a part of th * time. Other national dignitaries and guests will be paying their respects at various times while the Encampment is in session.
