Following Directions
We were watching some men put up a building across the way the other day. They’ve been working on it now for quite a spell and it still isn’t finished. Building is a slow process and it can’t be haphazard if it is to last.
The public looks at the finished product and admires it. But what the public doesn't see is the plan that is behind it all. The workers alone see that; the blueprints, the special in« structions.
Just about everything else in this complicated age comes with instructions, too. The housewife follows her receipes. Junior builds with his Erector set, following closely along in the directions. You buy a new gadget at the store, you learn a new parlor game, you install television or a new washer. They all have their directions.
