AmissviUe Firemen

Vote Down Ambulance

Buy Portable Pump

At a well-attended and interesting meeting on April 6, the Amissville Volunteer Firemen made a number of decisions of note to absent members and friends of the Department. v A heavily one-sided agreement was reached not to purchase the used ambulance which has been under consideration for the past six weeks. The feeling was very strong that although there was a need for a Rescue Squad and ambulance, that the Department was not as yet ready to expand its activities in that direction.

By a similarly decisive vote it was agreed to purchase the posable pump Which has been in the possession of the Volunteers for the last month. Use of the pumf> at least once convinced the great majority of the usefulness of such an auxiliary to their equipment.

Charles Compton called attention of the Department to the need of waterproofing the outside cinder block walls, and offered to donate the necessary material provided the Department would pay for the labor of applying it. The donation was accepted with thanks and installation should start as soon as the labor can be obtained.
