Tyler Miller, son of Mrs. John J. Miller of Flint Hill, and the late John J. Miller, was recently honored by Bridgewater College is they conferred upon him the degree of Doctor Of Laws.

President’s Bowman’s citation read: V

Mr. Miller, in recongition of your distinguished service to education, manifested in such positions as county and city superintendent, Superintendent of Public Instruction in Virginia, your sterling qualities of character, and the leadership you are giving to education and civic affairs, I am authorized by the trustees and faculty of the college to confer upon you the degree of Doctor of Laws, and present you this diploma duly signed by the officers of the college, admitting you to the rights and privileges of that degree throughout the world.” '

Mr. Miller, bom and reared in Rappahannock County, was educated in the public schools of his county, at Randolph-Macon Academy, Virginia Military Institute and the Graduate School of the University of yirginia. He was Superintendent of Schools of Warren and Rappahannock Counties for, 17 years and of the city schools, Charlottesville, 1 year. For 3 years he was Superintendent of Public Instruction, State of Virginia. Since September 1949, he has been president of Madison College, Harrisonburg. . * •
