Pickrell Hurls 2-Hitter, Defeats Chiefs 3-2
By Donnie Keyser * All of the fans that braved the heat to see the Flint Hill A. C.'s play the Washington Chiefs were amply rewarded. The game was definitely a pitcher’s dual until the fifth inning when the A. C.'s catcher drove a lone ball to center field for a double and Pickrell followed with a single to right to bring Jenkins home.
Pickrell had a no-hitter for seven and two-thirds innings when Scroggins reached him for a clean single to right. Flint Hill’s pitcher was never in trouble until the ninth when all of the A. C. fans had some very anxious moments. The anviety was attributed to a couple of errors caused by the sloping terrain in center Jield and the fact that our center fielder was * converted from catcher to outfielder for this game; With 2 runs across the plate and the tying run on second base, Pickrell renewed his tireless attack. His devastating fast ball and baffling curve proved too much for the opposition and th eside was retired without further ado.
We would like to compliment the Chiefs for fielding a very fine team. Never could we say that Flint Hill has a better ball club
