^ rabid fox threw a scare into Sperryyille lasit Friday.wfeex'tt ran through the yards, “acting peculiar” and "appearing wobbly.”
The red fox chewed on a post in the B. M. Varner yard, then ran next door into the J. Rodes Brown yard, where Mrs. Brown was pulling weeds. Seeing something go by and thinking that it was a dog, she just shooed him away. Looking up she saw a red fox slinking under the hedge. Mr*Brown lost no time in getting intjo the house. There she phoned her neighbors to warn them to calk their children in from play.
Meanwhile the fox wandered into Billy Brown’s yard, where it stumbled around then went into a convulsion. J. W. Brown shot and killed the fox. *•
C. Ennis Brown, Game warden, delivered the head to the Luray laboratory, and following tests, if was found to be rabid. !
