on which the county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee may accept request for new 1956 wheat allotments, Mr. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock County ASC has announced.
Under the wheat allotment program a “new farm’’ is one in which no wheat was seeded in any of the years 1953, 1954, and 1955. To apply for an allotment the farm operator must file an application with the county ASC office. Blank application forms are available for use in filing these requests.
To be considered for a new farm allotment, farmers will be required to furnish information for the consideration of the county committee. Such information would include the reason for requesting an allotment, why wheat should be produced rather than some other small grain, why no wheat was seeded during the past three years, and an explanation of the crop rotation system. Also the operator must expect to derive at least half of his livelihood from the farm. *
