State Police Investigator Joan' Wilson was summoned from’ Cul- ' peper and after dusting for fingerprints the safe was opened and. > disclosed nothing missing. Several fingerprints were taken -from objects around the store, including' drink bottles a stove pokes, which had been used to force entrance ''to the rear room.

The next burglary scene investigated by the officers was at Lea'r .Bros. Store, where entrance had been gained through a window about ten feet from the ground on the north side of the building.
When Mr. Lea opened the store „• early Tuesday morning be. noticed th»r the cash registers had been' tampered with. A more intensive investigation showed ‘doors left open and the rear door to the -' basement left open, indicating the burglars had made their exit from the store there.
After a thorough investigation by the officers they felt sure both burglaries had been committed by the same parties, and they felt sure they knew them. Sheriff CrKser and Trooper Lowman went in one direction and Trooper Buntin And Investigator Wilson took another. Critzer and Lowman were the first to strike pay dirt. Within a half hour they had*; picked up Pete Atkins, who confessed to his part in the robberies and also to breaking and entering 'Merrill Motor Gompahy a few weeks ago.
