of the paralytic cases hed received vaccine; three of the non-paralytic cases had had at least one dose of vaccine. Of the 16 cases reported in June, 7 were from Dickerson County; 3 from Buchannan, 2 from Arlington; and one each from Portsmouth, Richmond (city) and Roanoke. One of the Buchanan County cases died; this child had not received vaccine.
Let us bear in mind the statement recently made by Marion B. Folsom, Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare:
“I urge parents, physicans, and health officials to cooperate in making maximum use of the increasing supply of vaccine as available. We should all remember that vaccination in July may prevent polio in August or September, the months when the danger is greatest.”
