“How long did the average wage-earner have to work to buy a month’s supply of groceries in 1952? Fifty-one hours and now the same items only cost forty-one hours, so he is getting 25% more food for his work!
Maybe this will help folks whose market basket seems to cost more each week! Groceries still take about 25c of every’ dollar in our ftnmtry.
According to the figures from a U. S. D. A. survey in Spring 1955 urban families spent $30.00 a week for food while farm families only $17.00. So there is still much we can save by hdme production of our food.
W. S. C. S Bake Sale
The W. S. C. S. of the Washington Methodist Church are sponsoring a Bake Sale on Saturday, October 27. Donations and customers will be appreciated.
