MAKING "JACK” IN THE
COW BUSINESS
By W. H. LYNE, County Agent
I believe it was a movie producer by the name of Hitchcock who, .when having someone say “all work and no play makes Johnnie a dull boy” replied: “Yes, but it makes Jack!”
Certainly most of us could well work our brains, muscles, or what ever our talents may be. a bit more if we are to become better off in the cow business. For instance, lets take another look at last week's calf sale results. How about each consignor taking another look at his calf sale check stub and pondering a while over what happened when insofar as the goings-on his farm for the past twelve months are concerned-especially the things which did or did not happen over which he had or could have had, some direct control.
Before proceeding further let me quote you some quotes. M r. Frank Glass gave me a couple of davs aeo that I got quite a bang rut of and which might well be '•mnloved here: “Where are we ''.waning to go?” Might we add: In fV Cow Business?” Another w-s" “If vou don’t watch oul yon w-il have your tail in the crack” which is an Arkansas expression meaning to be in trouble. Ever see ’ cat in that shape?
