Hog prices probably won’t make any conspiciuous change in the next week, but will react to receipts. Receipts in the 12 major markets last week dropped off 2% from the preceding week,,which probably indicates that the peak of marketings is taking place or even past.
All markets were lower last week; Richmond, 50c lower at $15.50-$15.75; ’ Virginia auctions, down 90c to $15.50; Western markets, 25-50c lower at $15-$15.25 and Baltimore, 25-50c lower at $!6-$16.25.
The onset of cold weather would help the demand situation some, and would supplement a general “pushing” of pork which seems to be taking place at retail levels.
