Last weeks Mystery Farm was Meadow Grove Farm, owned by Janies F. Massie. It has been in the Massie family for four generations. Originally it was the home of Col. Thomas Benjamin Massie and his wife Eliza Anderson Massie who inherited the right side of Route 729 through her uncle, Rosser Jones. The left side of the farm was inherited through John Thomas Fletcher. The newest addition of the house was added in 1870 by Col. Thomas Massie. The original part of the house, as well as the slave cabin and bam are of log construction that dates back well over 200 years.
The farm is located on Route 729, known well as the old Richmond Road. General farming is done on the 758 acres. Twentyfive acres of wheat and thirty acres of corn are produced yearly. The farm grazes 125 commercial Hereford cows and heifers and winters 65 steer calves to yearling age. Sheep and hogs are also part of livestock raised.
