Those chestnut hunts were the high-lights of the Fall season for young_and old_.and when a sympathetic and understanding farmer cut a tree (he would use the timber for fence rails) and invited the children to come out, their joy was unbounded. The sight of the glossy brown nuts showering down was a sight never to! be forgotten. The late Bartow Brown, affectionately called “Bart” and “Cousin Bart” always cut) a tree every fall.
