I decided to hang on ancKnarrway up I met the barrel of apples coming down and received a severe blow on the shoulder. I then continued to the top of the tree banging my head or* the limbs and getting my fingers jammed in the pully. When the barrel of apples hit the ground, it burst its bottom and all the appl« spilled out. I was now heavier than the barrel and so started down again at high speed. Half way down 1 met the empty barrel coning up and received severe injuries to my shins. Then when I hit the ground 1 landed on the truck rigging, getting several painful cuts from the sharp edges and corners.
“At this point 1 must have lost' my presence of mind because I let go of the jine. The barrel then came down! again giving me another heavy blow on the head and putting me in the hospital.”
This sad story really is not mudt fnore ridiculous than the things that happen all the time to people who don’t watch what they’re doing, the horticulturalists say.
