Basketball Games
Rappahannock basketball squads played John Moseby Academy of Front Royal on the home court on January 5 and played, a return •engagement Tuesday nighf at Union Hall in Front Royal.' Rappahannock boys and girls won both of the games.
In the first game the. Panthers won by 6 points with a final score of 43-37. Bobby Hawkins was the high scorer with 16 points. The Panthers did not show as good form ;ls in previous games.
In the game Tuesday night Bobby Hawkins was . also high man with 27 points to his credit. The final score of the game was 63-51 favoring Rappahannock.
In the girls games with John Moseby Academy, Rappahannock Pantherettes stomped the Trotters w’th scores of 68-15 and 48-11. The second string carried on a good part of the time.Jean
Lillard and Shirley Browifc shared the starring honors with 18 points each in the first game and Tish Kilby racked up 12 points..
In the return game Shirley Brown was high scorer with 20 points.
On January 8 the Panthers of Rappahannock and Gar-Field Indians met on the Gar-Field court in a closely contested game. At the half Rappahannock had a 10-point lead only to be overtaken by the Indians in th# third quarter. Much 6f the time in the third, the score was tied, but the Indians made a final basket to win the game by one point with a score of 41-40. 4 Butch Browning was top scorerwith 19 points.
The Rappahannock girls bowed to Gar-Field girls in a tight game also. The evenly matched teams struggled to half time with only a two point difference in scores and the final score was 27-25 for GarField. Jean Lillard was top scorer with 10 points.

July 14 - 15 - 16 have been selected as the dates for the annual Sperryville Firemen’s carnival at Sperryville. This is being made public so other fire companies will not choose conflicting dates.
